Anthurium Regale (Small plant)

The Anthurium Regale is a plant that was discovered in 1888 and it belongs to the Araceae family (arum family). The plant has heart-shaped leaves, which gradually turn a velvet-like green color as the plant ages. The plant also has clear silvery veins. With their leathery leaves, these plants can grow very large.

Did you know that this plant is also called the flamingo flower plant in several languages ​​because the small flowers it makes are shaped like a flamingo? Other names are Laceleaf and Tailflower. This indicates the way the leaves grow from this plant.

Place this plant in an environment with sufficient, but indirect and filtered sunlight. The plant originates from the rainforest, so try to imitate the natural conditions as much as possible. This plant finds an environment with temperatures between 13 and 27 degrees Celsius the most attractive. Giving cold water or placing it in a cool environment is strongly discouraged with this plant, so take this into account. In the most natural conditions, this plant can make leaves about 2 meters long and it can grow with the right conditions and support over 4 meters tall. This has been observed by collectors who went to Peru. To stimulate growth, we recommend a somewhat more expensive fertilizer, because cheaper fertilizers contain a salt that the plant cannot tolerate. This salt can kill the plant almost instantly

This plant grows from a rooted trunk. The thicker the trunk, the larger the leaves this plant can make. A thick trunk means that this plant is older. If you want to make the plant grow bigger, the use of a moss stick is recommended. This plant also loves a place where it has a lot of space.

If there is one thing this plant likes, it is water. It likes a humid climate and wet soil. Unfortunately, this is very attractive after a longer period of time for any unwanted pests and diseases. That is why it is best to let the soil dry up in between and check the plant regularly.

In winter, this plant goes into hibernation for 6 to 8 weeks. Do not give too much water or nutrition during that period, because this plant does not like that. During that period, there is often no growth.
