Taking care of the Monstera Adansonii Variegated

When you have the Monstera Adansonii Variegated at home, it is obviously important to take good care of it. Remember that the plant is originally from the tropical rainforest, so it likes high humidity. Is your space too dry? Then make sure you have a humidifier and do not put the plant in a room that is too cold.

A light place with normal to high humidity is ideal. The plant likes to be in a lighter place than the normal Monstera Adansonii, as it produces fewer chloroplasts due to its colored spots. Nevertheless, we do not recommend direct sunlight: the colored spots make the leaves extra sensitive.

Water and nutrition

The Monstera Adansonii Variegated likes regular care, so give it water once a week. Provide a slightly moist soil, the plant does not like too much water. During the summer you can water the plant a little more often than during the winter. Provide the plant with extra plant nutrition twice a week between March and October, as this is the period in which the plant grows. We also recommend replacing the potting soil every year.

Monstera Adansonii Variegated at home

Once the Variegate starts to grow, it is possible to cut the plant. If more than four new leaves emerge that remain green, cut off the head. This gives you the best chance of getting yellow, white or mint spotted leaves. Try not to touch the colored leaf too much and do not spray it. The leaf is softer because of the lack of chloroplasts and is therefore more susceptible to damage.
