Syngonium

Syngonium

Syngonium is a tropical plant that origins in the Central and South American rainforest. It belongs to the family of the Araceae and has many shapes and sizes. There are many varieties of the Syngonium plant, each with their own pattern on the leaves and/or stem.

The shape of the leaves changes as the plant ages. The young leaves are arrow shaped and change to two to five-lobed leaves.

Because of its origin the Syngonium loves plenty of water but not constantly wet soil. Keep the soil lightly moist during the summer months and let it dry out a good bit more during winter and fall.

Place the Syngonium where it receives indirect sunlight. The ideal temperature for this plant is between 15 and 21 ° C.

The plant will reach optimal growth when the humidity is between 40 & 50 %. Add some fertilizer every two weeks during spring and summer to support her growth.

The Syngonium is an easy plant that also filters the air.

The plant is toxic when indigested.
