Watering Phalaenopsis

Phalaenopsis has a special type of root that often benefits from a transparent pot. Moreover, the orchid prefers to be in bark. Normal potting soil is a no-go for this orchid! Normal potting soil can lead to root rot and has poor drainage. Phalaenopsis should be kept fairly dry. Therefore, check the bottom of the pot to see if it's just dry before watering the orchid again. This orchid doesn't like tap water but prefers clean water like rainwater.

The Ideal Temperature for the Butterfly Orchid

The orchid thrives in living rooms where there is little to no draft. A minimum temperature of 15 degrees Celsius is desired. In the summer, the temperature can be a bit higher.

Humidity for Phalaenopsis

In addition, Phalaenopsis prefers moderate to high humidity. So, be cautious with heating in the winter. It can help to place hydrogranules under the pot with absorbed water to increase the humidity around the plant.
