Kracht van de zomerzon: Kamerplanten op het zuiden

The longest day of the year in terms of sunlight is already upon us. This means that the strength of the sun is also increasing tremendously on warm summer days. So it is important to keep a close eye on your houseplants and orchids. Plants that were able to enjoy facing south in almost direct sunlight in the spring may need to be moved to protect their leaves from burning and/or drying out.

Window coverings

A good tip is to place the plants behind window coverings to protect them from the worst of the sun's rays. In cases where the leaves have become very much lighter or yellow, it is already quite late and it will be wise to place them further from the window for a while.

Indirect sunlight

Most tropical houseplants like moderate to much indirect sunlight, but direct sunlight is often already too strong. Especially with south-facing windows, it is very careful with this.

Mirrors and plants

Something many people forget is the effect of reflections. Mirrors have long been very popular in spaces to create a more spacious feeling in a room. Be aware, however, that it can affect houseplants. Sometimes a reflection can act like a magnifying glass and damage houseplants.
