The Chiloschista is also known as Starfish Orchid. It is a species that has few to no leaves. This orchid grows epiphytic or lithophytic in forests of Southeast Asia and part of Australia.

John Lindley first described this orchid genus in 1832. One of the most popular species are the Chiloschista parishii and the Chiloschista viridiflava.
