In our nursery we have various forms of one plant. Plants are living beings and so they are sometimes different. Variations in color and size are therefore possible.

The pictures shown with our products are sample pictures. These photos give a true picture of what the plant may look like when properly cared for. The specifications are leading for the plant received. Please read the characteristics carefully before ordering.

What are sample images?

We have an extremely large, extensive assortment with thousands of plants. In addition, because specific plants change in shape, color and size on a weekly basis, it is impossible for our small team to capture all specific plants. Each plant grows in a unique way, so it is perfectly normal that there may be differences in color, shape and size.

But because we do want to communicate clearly to you what to expect with a product, we have specifications for each plant that will give you a clear picture of what to expect.

It is therefore rare that you will receive the exact plant shown in the picture. If this is the case, it will be explicitly mentioned in the product description. Our goal is to ensure that you have a pleasant, green shopping experience and that you can shop with us worry-free.

For people who like to browse among the plants, we have a physical store. Check the contact page for opening hours and more info.

Description

Encyclia adenocaula 'Nemoralis' is a rare orchid variety distinguished by its graceful flower forms and delicate coloration. This selection of the species is native to Mexico and is among the most attractive members of the genus Encyclia. Its airy inflorescence and delightful fragrance make it beloved among connoisseurs and collectors.

Origin

This orchid is native to the mountainous regions of Mexico, where it grows on tree branches in dry to moist oak forests. It was originally described under the name Epidendrum adenocaulum, and was later also known as Epidendrum nemorale and Encyclia nemoralis. Eventually, it was correctly classified as Encyclia adenocaula, with "nemoralis" referring to a compact, fine-flowered form that probably arises from a natural variation.

Characteristics

Flowers appear in clusters and emit a pleasantly sweet fragrance. Each flower displays a soft pink to purplish pink pattern with a contrasting white to pale yellow lip. Blooms can include dozens of flowers at once, making for a spectacular display.

The leaves are leathery and grow from pear-shaped pseudobulbs. The compact habit of the 'Nemoralis' selection makes it suitable for smaller greenhouses or well-ventilated windowsills.

Care

Light

Lots of bright, indirect light. Avoid direct midday sunlight to prevent leaf burn.

Temperature

This species thrives in warm to moderate temperatures between 18 °C and 28 °C. Cooler nights up to 15 °C promote flowering.

Substrate

Use an airy, well-drained orchid substrate based on medium bark, possibly enriched with charcoal or coconut chips.

Humidity

A humidity of 50-70% is ideal. When humidity is low, provide additional ventilation to prevent mold growth.

Nutrition

During the growing period, give a balanced orchid nutrient weekly, diluted to a quarter of the recommended dose.

Watering

Allow the substrate to dry slightly between waterings. Preferably give demineralized water to avoid salt accumulation.

Flowering

Flowering usually appears in spring or early summer and can last for weeks. After flowering, a short rest period is desired, with slightly less water and no feeding.
